Barbara Sahli, the Outreach Coordinator of ISBCC, Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (http://isbcc.org/) spoke to CPLA on September 29th regarding Islamaphobia and issue facing the Islamic community in Boston and the US.
Our discussion covered issues such as hate speech, cultural misconceptions, and most importantly, how to begin to change societal perceptions of Americans. In addition to hosting the panel, CPLA also held a Q&A session with Barbara on what students can do to help fix the problem.
We were happy to have over 40 member in attendance at the panel. As an organization dedicated to civic engagement and community action, we were glad to engage in a dialogue on the issue and hopefully be part of the cultural solution to the issue at hand.
